On the other hand, traveling with someone who is reckless with their spending can have you living above your means. My ideal travel partner is someone who doesn’t mind spending lavishly sometimes but also knows moderation.

There is nothing that puts a damper on a vacation quite like traveling with someone who wants to sleep the vacation away. In my opinion, the best people to travel with are those who can get up early and stay out late especially when you have limited travel time. My philosophy is “We’ll sleep when we’re home.”

Say Yes to Adventure

By this, I don’t mean that you have to travel with a thrill seeker. I mean that your travel partner should be someone who is open to trying new things. Like when I was in Bangkok, my best friend asked me if I would hop on a plane with her to Phuket the next day. I said yes without hesitation. So we packed our little duffle bags and booked our flight tickets. This impulsive move transformed our whole Thailand experience for the better. Pick a travel buddy who is open to adventure just as much as you are.

Know Your Partner

I’ve had my best travel experiences with people who move how I move. For me, this includes my best friend, close friends, and family members. When picking a travel partner, it’s great to choose someone that you spend time with often. Since you haven’t gotten tired of them yet, chances are they could be the perfect travel buddy.

Common Interests

When I travel some of my favorite things to do are eat delicious food, visit museums, and go dancing. Therefore, I always pick a travel buddy who likes to do the same. My tip for you is to make sure you choose someone who finds value in spending time the same way you do.

In my opinion, the best people to travel with are those who don’t complain when things don’t go as planned. Sometimes the restaurant where you wanted to eat is booked or everything is closed because of a special holiday. When traveling, finding a travel partner who can easily adapt to changing environments and maintain good energy in the process is essential.
